The “Stagnone Nature Reserve” is a magical place where nature and history come together in a unique landscape. Located a short distance from our Hotel, this protected area includes a vast lagoon and four islands: Mozia, Isola Grande, Schola and Santa Maria.
The heart of the reserve is the Stagnone Lagoon, characterized by shallow, calm waters that are ideal for life for many animal and plant species. It is a must-see for birdwatchers, who can admire pink flamingos, herons and other migratory species here.
The salt pans, with their characteristic windmills, are a unique visual spectacle, especially at sunset, when the sun tints the water in warm and striking colors. Sea salt is still produced here using traditional methods, an activity that is an important part of the local history and economy.
One of the reserve's most important attractions is the Island of Mozia, an ancient Phoenician settlement of great archaeological value. Among the main sites to visit are the defensive walls, the House of the Mosaics and the Young Man of Mozia, an extraordinary statue displayed in the island's museum. Mozia is easily reached by boat excursions, offering a unique experience between history and natural beauty.
Stagnone is also famous for kitesurfing, thanks to its steady winds and shallow waters. For those who prefer to relax, the reserve's breathtaking views, especially at sunset, offer moments of pure serenity.
The reserve can be visited on foot, by bicycle or by boat, and is easily accessible from the Rainbow Resort Hotel. It is the ideal place for those seeking an authentic connection with nature and Sicilian history, giving unforgettable emotions to every visitor.
